1984 Unit Calendar and Lesson Plans
Throughout this semester I've revised and revised my 1984 Unit Plan. There are many things I'm proud of in creating this unit plan. I based this off of what I thought would be an immersive experience considering the current political climate. This Unit Plan was also inspired by my love for worldbuilding and creating. Looking back on it now, there was a lot of things I couldn't fit into my schedule. new things and problems popped up all the time, and I couldn't offer as much knowledge as I could have in the time it took to adjust all my lesson plans to fit a shorter schedule.

Of course, there's a lot of nuance related to how each class receives and expresses information separately. The only thing I wish I could have done is that I have time to give s
Below I have handouts for their reading, focusing on connecting the novel to current events. At this time, there are many events that I could get to students to talk about, particularly with ICE deportations and the lack of due process and relating that to the thought police within the book. There are also many passive daily life examples such as surveillance (with their phone and personal information being given freely online.) With the 2024 election, we talk about propaganda, ads, and culture in daily life.
